@Gloria servant theory works. It is when you as a leader feel more giving than receiving. Some leaders prefer to gai than to give, this is contrary to servant leadership. You will learn more in module 2 when you assess your personality.

ess on investing in people being lead

Dear @Gloria, @Khadija, @Aleck I have read your discussion. I think you are all making points, but in simple terms the major difference between contemporary leadership and High Impacts Leadership is that the later invests and develops the leader him/her self, while the former focusses on investing in people being lead. Please review your notes again.

Leadership is ability to influence, motivate, and enable others to contribute to the effectiveness and success of the team or organization goal or I can say leadership is the ability to influence a group towards the achievement of a vision or set oof goals
Example; The ability of a manager to give or withhold tangible or intangible rewards such as rewarding pay raises or providing verbal praise for a good performance.

Contemporary leadership is a kind of leadership that helps to cope with changing circumstances of the current world because it’s relies on three aspect that are rapid change, technological innovations and increase globalization due to this it’s develop a leader who uses personal influence to develop and insiper people to achieve organization goals and make different in community, make a strategies based on the team’s idea and consider problem solving as a team effort
While High impact leadership is kind of leadership that considering your impact as leader in your organisation that develop leader who they believe true success is defined according to the impact they have on a particular organisation.

I think from my understanding, contemporary leadership is the kind of leadership where personal influences are used to demonstrate and achieve organisation goals and this kind of leadership differs from that of high impact due to the purpose of demonstrating skills of leadership where involving others in seeking ideas and finding solutions towards the goals of the organisation or team is the key element…
I stand to be corrected please!

Dear @Gloria Kombe. Thank you for the question. There are important steps for a leader to improve his/her ethics. First one needs to understand his purpose and values. You will learn later on Value Based leadership and Purpose Based leadership. When the purpose and values are clear, then it is possible to define the does and donts. So to summarize my point a leader needs to understand his purpose of leadership and his value. I hope this helps
