In planning you answer questions like when to do what, how and for whom. it is also important stage as it the stage which helps to forecast the budget as you will be able to identify resources needed and be able to cost them.

Having a good strategic plan means even the implementation and monitoring will be based on the plan.

It focuses on the formulation of strategies intended to reach the goal WHILE in strategic management there is an evaluation of the activities and the resources at hand, to monitor the possibility of achieving the results by using the activities and resources

Planning paves the waywhich you will navigate throughout the whole duration of project management. Also during planning you will set clear project objectives, assess the risks and allocate resources for the project to run smoothly.

At my office in August we planned that by end of August all staffs sitting in the ground floor must be re alocated in the first floor confortably. I was the champion in that and therefore my goal was all staffs to fit and be reallocated in the first floor comfortably. series of actions where taken during August but finally as we speak all staffs have settled in the first floor and working comfortably.

Strategic planning alone does not guarantee the attainment of the results but strategic management does. We see in government and private institutions that strategic plans are written, activities identified and resources given, but poor management (such as corruption, misallocation of funds) lead to poor results.
